Athens –Limestone County RSVP has been assisting low income and elderly taxpayers in preparing Income Tax Returns for 38 plus years.Each year, our volunteers start training in November/December/January in preparation for the current year.We begin each year the first of February and go through April 15th.Taxes are prepared in Athens, Decatur, and Ardmore. Each tax counselor must be certified through IRS.
TUTORING
Tutor/Mentors students in the County and City School Systems to improve reading and other educational skills as needed.
Tutor/mentor students in other subjects as deemed necessary by the Classroom Teacher.
Volunteers with the desire to work with children are offered the opportunity to participate in reading workshops.The workshops act as a resource to strengthen understanding of reading and working with children, while providing a platform for connections and support to one another.In addition, as a registered member of RSVP, you will enjoy benefits that include ongoing support, a newsletter, supplemental insurance while volunteering, feedback and recognition for your work.Each school tutor must go through a criminal history background check prior to tutoring any student.

Respite Program is temporary relief for parents and caregivers of individuals with a disability or special health care need.Reservations are required.The Respite Program is a partnership with RSVP and the faith based community.
